The DW22 Small Probe is an optional measurement probe designed for the DW22 Digital Iron Loss Tester. It is specifically intended for testing electrical steel components with limited surface area, such as EI laminations, motor stator and rotor stampings, and other small punched parts where the standard Big Probe cannot be accommodated.

With an effective measurement area of 45 mm × 15 mm, the Small Probe enables accurate iron loss measurements on smaller specimens while maintaining the reliability and repeatability expected from the DW22 testing system.

When Should You Choose the Small Probe?

The Small Probe is recommended when testing electrical steel samples that are too small for the standard Big Probe.

Choose the Small Probe if you are testing:

• EI transformer laminations
• Motor stator stampings
• Motor rotor stampings
• Small punched electrical steel components
• Samples smaller than 60 mm × 20 mm

Choose the Big Probe for:

• Standard electrical steel sheets
• Strip samples
• Larger specimens where maximum measurement stability is required

Although the Small Probe is ideal for compact components, the Big Probe remains the preferred choice for standard electrical steel sheets, as its larger sensing area provides greater measurement stability and improved accuracy. Users requiring both standard sheet testing and small component testing can purchase the Small Probe separately as an accessory.
