The DW22 Big Probe is the standard measurement probe supplied with the DW22 Digital Iron Loss Tester. Designed for testing standard electrical steel samples, it provides a large effective measurement area that delivers stable, repeatable, and highly accurate test results.

With an effective sensing area of 60 mm × 20 mm, the probe can be used on any electrical steel sample that meets or exceeds these minimum dimensions. For most laboratory, production, and quality control applications involving standard sample strips, the Big Probe is the recommended choice.

When Should You Choose the Big Probe?

The Big Probe is the preferred option for nearly all standard electrical steel testing applications. Its larger effective measurement area provides more consistent and accurate readings than the Small Probe.

Choose the Big Probe if you are testing:

• Standard electrical steel strips
• Flat sheet samples
• Material samples larger than 60 mm × 20 mm

Choose the Small Probe only when testing components with limited surface area, such as:

• EI laminations
• Motor stator and rotor stampings
• Small punched electrical steel components

Compared to the Small Probe, the larger sensing area averages the magnetic characteristics over a greater surface, resulting in improved measurement stability and reduced variation between tests.

The DW22 Big Probe is also available separately as an accessory for users who initially purchased a DW22 with the Small Probe and later require testing of larger samples.
